Chi Flow with Jo — Participant Disclaimer

Scope. This disclaimer applies to all Chi Flow with Jo activities and content, including live and recorded Qigong classes, linked talks/webinars, written materials, food-as-medicine recipes, and self-acupressure guidance provided through our membership, emails, and resources.

Not medical care. Chi Flow with Jo offers education and general wellness practices from a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective. It is not a substitute for medical diagnosis, treatment, or individualized clinical advice. Our practices are complementary to, not replacements for, Western medical care. Continue to work with your GP/consultant and medication plan.

Personal responsibility & suitability. You are responsible for deciding whether to participate and for how you use the information. If you have any medical condition (including Parkinson’s), recent surgery, injury, pregnancy, osteoporosis, cardiovascular issues, balance/fall risk, or other concerns, consult your healthcare professional before starting or changing exercise, diet, or acupressure routines.

No guarantees; individual results vary. Experiences are personal. What helps one person may not help another. We share lived experience and options to explore; outcomes are not guaranteed.

Exercise safety (Qigong & movement). Practices are designed to be gentle, but only move within your comfort and capacity—standing or seated. Stop immediately if you feel pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, chest pain, loss of balance, or any unusual symptom, and seek medical advice. Use a clear, stable space and any supports you need.

Self-acupressure safety. Acupressure instructions are educational. Do not perform acupressure on areas that are bruised, inflamed, infected, or after recent surgery, and avoid strong pressure if you have bleeding disorders, are on anticoagulants, are pregnant (unless specifically advised by a qualified practitioner), or have any condition where pressure is contraindicated. Discontinue if symptoms worsen and consult a clinician.

Food-as-medicine & recipes. Recipes and dietary tips are general education. They are not individualized nutrition or medical advice. Check for allergies, intolerances, medication interactions (e.g., with liver-metabolized drugs), and suitability for your condition. Practice basic food safety; if in doubt, ask your clinician/dietitian.

Medication & care continuity. Do not alter prescribed medication or medical devices (including DBS settings) based on our materials without discussing with your consultant/GP. Our content aims to support living well alongside your existing care.

Community & recordings. Live sessions may include group discussion. Do not share personal medical information you wish to keep private. Where recordings are provided, they are for your personal use only; please do not redistribute.

Limitation of liability. By participating, you acknowledge the inherent risks of physical movement and self-care practices and agree that Chi Flow with Jo, Joanne Faulkner, contributors, and affiliates are not liable for injuries, adverse effects, or outcomes arising from participation or reliance on the materials, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Emergency. If you experience severe or alarming symptoms, seek urgent medical attention (e.g., call emergency services). Our sessions and materials are not suitable for emergency situations.

Affirmation. Joining classes or using our materials indicates that you have read, understood, and agree to this disclaimer.
